The Attorney General of the Republic, Augusto Aras, said that the Federal Public Ministry (MPF), the body he represents, has been sabotaged “by criminal organizations with hundreds of fanciful representations”. The PGR published excerpts of old videos on its YouTube channel this Friday (3/9), with a series of statements criticizing the “political use” of the justice system.
At the beginning of the video, a written message informs that these are interviews and journalists from Minas Gerais, on August 19, and from foreign vehicles, on July 11 and August 9. Aras assessed that the MPF leadership is “sabotaged with hundreds of representations”, without justification, to investigate authorities, in a “strategy to prevent” it from “continuing to investigate the real criminal organizations” that exist.
“Fake Pastor Silas Malafaia”
The “sabotage” would be due to each representation passing through the hands of a server, for screening about “the suitability, authorship of the content of the evidence”, then forwarded to a prosecutor, and finally to the PGR. The prosecutor said the move is a “waste of public time and money”.
“We, in addition to fulfilling our constitutional duty, still have to face real criminal organizations that sabotage our work with fanciful representations, devoid of probative support, of legal foundation. Whoever does this, does it to occupy the institution, the administrative machine, and prevent us from continuing to carry out our work of investigation, prosecution, defense of public property, of all the goods and values that we are responsible for safeguarding”, said Aras.
The head of the MPF also cited news-crimes “based on mere news from newspapers previously planted and with false authors”. “There is a fake pastor Silas Malafaia who made more than 200 representations against Supreme Court ministers, authorities from various agencies and Powers,” he said.
“All this is part of a use of the justice system for political ends and it is time to investigate the abuses. Here, we seek to maintain a pattern of permanent dialogue with relevant political and social segments. We seek to adopt postures that respect the Federal Constitution and the laws because otherwise we will have nullity, break with the jurisdictional dialogue”, concluded Aras.
