The storm, caused by a mass of cold air that reached the state of Santa Catarina, caused several occurrences. Falling trees, falling walls and roofing marked the West Region this Friday morning, 2, around 2 am.
The Civil Defense reported that in the municipality of Xanxerê there was a fall of eucalyptus, but without major damage. The Fire Department attended to two roofings, registered in São Carlos and Águas de Chapecó.
There were three tree falls on BR-282, in the municipality of Pinhalzinho, and two on SC-283, in the Guatambú National Forest and Linha Santa Terezinha, in Palmitos.
In the Água Amarela neighborhood, in Chapecó, there were five records of tree fall, which would have obstructed the road. The information was released by the Military Fire Brigade and the Civil Defense.
An eight-meter wall fell on a house during the storm and left a woman injured in Chapecó, in the west of Santa Catarina. The case took place on Montevideo Street, Passos dos Fortes neighborhood.
According to information from the Military Fire Department, the force of the wind caused the fall of a wall of approximately eight meters in height, on a building of mixed construction, wood and masonry. About 50% of the house and furniture was destroyed.
There was a woman and three dogs in the house at the time of the incident. The woman suffered apparently minor injuries, according to firefighters. She refused to be taken in for medical evaluation. The dogs were not hurt. The Civil Defense was called to take appropriate action.
