Bahia recorded an 11.4% reduction in the Intentional Lethal Violent Crimes Index (CVLIs), a category that encompasses homicides known as “violent deaths”. In addition, preliminary data released by the Secretariat of Public Security (SSP) this Friday (2) show that August closed with a 17.9% decline in Bahia.

In the first eight months of this year, the state reported 436 cases of violent deaths, less than in the same period in 2021. In relation, specifically, to the month of August, Bahia went from 446 cases last year to 366 records this year.

In the Metropolitan Region of Salvador, cases went from 441 (2021) to 396 (2022), with 45 lives being preserved. In municipalities in the interior of the state, the work of the Bahian police helped protect the lives of 251 people, with a decrease from 2,454 cases last year to 2,203 occurrences this year.

“We had positive results in the first half and we will continue to do so. The work of the Military, Civil, Technical Police and the Fire Department has shown consecutive results. We managed to reduce the CVLIs in every month this year”, said the Secretary of Public Security, Ricardo César Mandarino.
