One Gun was found inside a one-year-old baby’s backpack in a municipal school in Novo Hamburgo, in the Metropolitan Region of Porto Alegre. The case, which took place on Monday (29), was reported to the Civil Police this Wednesday (31), according to delegate Alexandre Quintão.

the pistol belongs to the child’s fathera civil police officer on leave for health treatment. a teacher would have searched for diapers in the child’s backpack when he found the gun. Without touching it, the teacher called the father who went to collect the object.

Over the phone, the police officer told the delegate that I left the gun in a bag, along with other personal effects, so I wouldn’t have to carry it around my waist. The bag would have stayed inside the backpack after the father forgot to take it out.

The case is investigated as possible omission of caution in firearm custody, provided for in Article 13 of the Disarmament Statute. However, as the weapon did not come into the possession of any person, should not be configured crime.

“The failure of the civil police officer to take care of the weapon did not cause any possibility of damage, because no one took the weapon”, explains Quintão.

The Civil Police should hear from the teacher and the child’s father in the coming days.
