The main form of transmission of the disease is through sexual intercourse, but it is not the only one. It occurs when a person comes into contact with the virus, which can be through contact with a sick animal, contaminated materials or humans. Human-to-human transmission can occur through respiratory secretions (droplets), through skin injury (even if not visible), through recently contaminated objects, and through body fluids and secretions from the mucous membranes (eyes, nose, or mouth). .

People who show symptoms should seek medical attention and report if they have had contact with a sick animal or human or contaminated material or travel abroad in the last month before the onset of symptoms.

It is important to note that healthy animals do not transmit the disease.
