Fortaleza reduces by 14.1% the rate of Intentional Lethal Violent Crimes (CVLIs) in August. The data were compiled by the Statistics and Geoprocessing Management (Geesp) of the Superintendence for Research and Public Security Strategy (Supesp). The numbers are compared to the same period in 2021.

Fortaleza shows reduction in deaths from violent crimes
In the eighth month of last year, the capital of Ceará recorded 71 cases, according to the survey. “This year, in the same period, and with the intensification of the integrated work of the Security Forces, Fortaleza presented a fall of 14.1%, when the number reduced to 61”, points out the document. The data were released this Thursday (1st).
The retraction of the indices was also registered in all Ceará. In August this year, the decline was 11%, going from 281 deaths in August of last year to 250 occurrences this month. In the accumulated result for this year, Ceará recorded a reduction in CVLIs of 7.2%, going from 2,143 cases, from January to August 2021, to 1,988, in the same period in 2022.

More than 180 firearms were seized in the interior of Ceará
In the first half of this year, 182 firearms and 2,978 ammunition were seized in the interior of the state by the Ceará Military Police (PMCE), through the Specialized Interior Policing Battalion (Bepi). The numbers are a result of operations and ostensive and preventive actions in the fight against Violent Lethal and Intentional Crimes (CVLIs) and Violent Crimes Against Property (CVPs).
Also in the first six months of 2022, Bepi seized 47 vehicles, recovered 118 stolen or stolen cell phones and arrested 219 people suspected of participating in criminal practices. Compared to the six months of 2021, the first half of 2022 showed a retraction of 66.7%, going from three crimes recorded last year to one this year. The specialized battalion contributed to the reduction in actions against financial institutions across the state.
