Paulo Azi, president of União Brasil in Bahia, mocked the candidate’s “disappearance”
The Electoral Justice determined this Thursday (1st) that the candidate for governor Jerônimo Rodrigues (PT) appears in his own insertions in TV advertising, within the time provided by the legislation. The decision of judge Raimundo Sérgio Sales Cafezeiro forces the PT campaign to suspend the airing of electoral programs that exceed the 25% limit for supporters to appear in the pieces, under penalty of a fine of R$ 1 thousand for irregular published insertion.
“Analysing the propaganda in question, prima facie, I understand that the testimonies of supporters, added to the testimony of the candidate for the majority, exceeded the total allocated to those represented in television electoral propaganda”, says the judge. According to him, Jerônimo’s advertising, in the way it was shown, constitutes a misrepresentation of the time reserved for advertising.
Federal deputy Paulo Azi, president of União Brasil in Bahia, mocked the “disappearance” of Jerônimo in advertising. “With a week from the beginning of the electoral propaganda on TV, the candidate for governor of the PT is still being sought. The Electoral Court had to force him to appear, because in the program only those who participate are the supporters. Just to give you an idea, in one of the programs, it only appears 5% of the time. He’s leaning on the groomsmen,” he said.
The lawyer for the ‘Pra Mudar a Bahia’ coalition, Ademir Ismerim, argued that the propaganda violates the decision of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). “What we observe is that, in the program of the aforementioned candidate, there is a participation of the supporters in a much longer time than the appearance of the candidate himself, which represents a serious affront to the electoral legislation”, says Ismerim.
