A 1-month-old baby died in an accident involving two cars, on Wednesday night (31), on the MG-424 highway, in Pedro Leopoldo, in the metropolitan region of Belo Horizonte. Another six people were injured in the accident. The driver of the vehicle that caused the accident said he consumed alcohol before taking the wheel.

According to the Military Police, the 31-year-old driver confessed that he stopped by a bar after work. On the way home, he lost control of the steering and caused the accident. The car spun down the lane and hit the other vehicle head-on.

In the car hit were six people: the driver, his sister, her husband, and the couple’s three children: a 17-year-old teenager, a 4-year-old child and a newborn. The baby was not in the car seat, he was taken to the UPA (Emergency Care Unit, but he could not resist the injuries and died in the unit. The injured were rescued and taken to the Hospital de Pronto Socorro XXIII. Their health status was not was released.

The driver who caused the accident was driving with an expired license. He passed a breathalyzer test, which proved he was using alcohol. The bricklayer worker underwent examinations at the Hospital de Sete Lagoas and was then taken to the police station.

Even being a victim, the driver of the accident vehicle will also have to explain himself to the police, as he does not have a driver’s license.
