FMS will hold I Seminar on Suicide Prevention in Teresina

The Municipal Health Foundation (FMS) of Teresina will hold, on the 16th, the I Seminar on Suicide Prevention: What we feel matters, Acting saves Lives, which aims to address the ‘Yellow September’ campaign and mental health care . The presentation takes place in the Auditorium of Teatro João Paulo II, in the Redonda neighborhood, from 8 am to 1 pm.

Since 2014, the Brazilian Association of Psychiatry – ABP, in partnership with the Federal Council of Medicine – CFM, organizes, in national territory, the Yellow September. Registration for the Seminar and Mini-Course Taking Care of Yourself and Taking Care of the Other begins next Monday (5th) and offers a 20-hour certificate. According to the FMS mental health management team, spaces for the mini-course will be limited and anyone interested can participate. “Slots for the Caring for Yourself and Caring for the Other Minicourse are limited. We will have a keynote lecture with Carlos Aragão, PhD in Clinical Psychology and Culture from UnB and member of the IASP (International Association for Suicide Prevention). Anyone interested in the topic can participate.”, he informs.

Psychosocial Care Centers

It is known that practically 100% of all suicide cases were related to mental illnesses, mainly undiagnosed or incorrectly treated. Thus, most cases could have been avoided if these patients had access to psychiatric treatment and quality information.

The capital of Piauí has ​​Psychosocial Care Centers of reference and treatment for people with psychological distress. Mental health resources, constituting a service that replaces the asylum model, of extra-hospital care that reduces and seeks to avoid psychiatric readmissions seeking the resocialization of the individual.

CAPS opening hours are from 8 am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday. At CAPS, the user finds a psychiatrist, psychologist, nurse, occupational therapist, social worker and a support team that offers individual and group care; community activities, therapeutic workshops and care for the family (home visit, family group).
