A one-month old baby died and four people were injured in a car accident on Wednesday night (8/31), at MG-424, at km 22, in Pedro Leopoldo, in the Metropolitan Region of Belo Horizonte.
A driver with signs of intoxication suspected of causing the crash. The car he was driving hit the vehicle in which the victims were.
Witnesses told police that one of the cars crossed the road and collided head-on with the other. To the Military Police, the driver said he lost control of the steering wheel. He was alone at the time of the accident.
The Fire Department was called to provide assistance. A 34-year-old man was trapped in the wreckage and was rescued by the military. At the time of the rescue, his health was serious. The victim is in the João XXIII Hospital.
The other injured were taken to the Emergency Room in Pedro Leopoldo. Their health status was not disclosed. The baby died in the UPA.
The driver suspected of causing the accident was arrested and taken to the Sete Lagoas police station to give evidence.
