Sudesb participates in the Paralympic Meeting in the city of Urandi, southwest of the state

The Superintendency of Sports of the State of Bahia (Sudesb), an agency of the Secretariat of Labor, Employment, Income and Sports (Setre), promoted, in partnership with the Secretariat of Culture, Sports and Leisure (Secel) of the City of Urandi, the Meeting Paralympic with the theme “Adapted sport as a form of social and school inclusion”. The action took place on Friday, 10th, in the gymnasium of the Education, Art and Culture Center (Ceac) of Urandi, with discussions about parasport and the presentation of the modalities to the public.

Present at the meeting, the coordinator of the Sudesb Parasports Center, Adelmare Santana Junior, celebrates the event. “Our commitment as a State is to make parasport viable in Bahia as a whole, internalizing the actions. Therefore, I am very pleased to be here in Urandi. I am open to proposing initiatives to guarantee access for People with Disabilities in sports,” he said.

With this aim, the meeting continued with speeches from institutions in the region and ended with workshops and presentations of Paralympic sports. Golbol coach, Tassia Alves, from Jequié, was responsible for presenting the sport to members of the Urandinense Association of People with Special Needs (AUPNE), while the Urandi boccia team practiced for the public and the Mortugaba capoeira group I formed a circle with PCD capoeiristas.

Pan-American champion and medalist at Parapan de Santiago last year, the home athlete in Paralympic weightlifting, Edilânia Araújo, showed her skills and congratulated the initiative. “I hope that new athletes come to Paralympic sports and that they can have the experiences and trips that I had”, concluded Edilânia.

The Urandi ballet activities, a match between the teams from the Associação Pais e Amigos dos Excepcionais de Guanambi and Espinosa plus the artistic intervention of AUPNE. The mayor of Urandi, Warlei de Souza, highlighted the importance of Urandir hosting this event that unites nearby cities in the agenda of people with disabilities in sports.

“It is an initiative to diversify sports practice within actions for the PWD public. We also had the implementation of the education center for special people, with the inclusive practice of sport. This is the first meeting in the region to kick us off.
Hosting this event is very important for the decentralization of this fundamental support from Sudesb and to encourage us to continue investing in parasports”, concludes the mayor.
