Governor Paulo Dantas will participate, starting this Monday (13), in the World Hydrogen 2024 Summit Exhibition, in Rotterdam, in the Netherlands, alongside governors from the Northeast. The event is the largest in the world focused on hydrogen solutions, as clean energy.

During the event, Paulo highlighted Alagoas’ efforts to become a clean energy hub, citing significant examples of investments. “Alagoas has stood out for its ability to attract large renewable energy projects. Recently, EDP de Portugal announced one and a half billion in Delmiro Gouveia for solar energy, and Casa dos Ventos which should start operating soon in our state” , highlighted the governor.

The governor of Rio Grande do Norte and president of the Northeast Consortium, Fátima Bezerra, reinforced the importance of collaboration between the states in the region and alignment with federal policies. “This is a new moment for Brazil, a moment of resumption of the dialogue of international relations and inclusion in the global decarbonization agenda. The Northeast states are at the forefront of this transition, with the Northeast representing the majority of the country’s wind farms,” said Bezerra.

The presence of the governors reflects the strategic position of the Northeast in Brazil’s energy transition, highlighting the commitment to sustainable development and the exploration of renewable energies such as wind, solar and biomass. The event also provides space for a platform for discussions on new technologies and international partnerships, essential for promoting the green economy.

“We are here not only to show what Alagoas has done, but to learn and bring to our state the most advanced in the world in terms of hydrogen technology and renewable energy,” concluded Paulo Dantas, highlighting the importance of this global engagement to advance clean energy policies in Brazil.

Secretary Hugo Leahy (Federative Relations) emphasized the importance of Alagoas’ presence on international agendas.

“We are at the largest hydrogen event in the world, talking to international companies that see our state as a potential region for investment. Now, more than ever, we must think about nature and investing in clean energy is a priority for the Government of Alagoas”, he highlighted.

Secretary Renata dos Santos (Finance) highlighted that Alagoas already has specific legislation for the renewable energy agenda. “It is important to highlight that we have the State Regulatory Framework for Green Hydrogen in the final stage of discussion and will soon be voted on in the Legislative Assembly,” she stated.

“Alagoas is one of the states that has specific tax legislation for renewable energy companies and products. We know how important this issue is for Brazil and the world”, added the secretary.

Secretary Paula Dantas (Planning) and Wendel Palhares (Communications Executive) also participate.
