For the week and the beginning of May, the weather forecast in Santa Catarina points to the continuation of frequent rains and instability in several regions of the state. This meteorological pattern is the result of the influence of an atmospheric blockage that makes it difficult for cold fronts to advance between Uruguay and Rio Grande do Sul towards Santa Catarina.

According to the Civil Defense weather forecast, the cold fronts present more stationary characteristics, moving slowly and prolonging the rainy period, especially in areas close to the border with Rio Grande do Sul. This condition should persist throughout the first fortnight May, with above average rainfall for this time of year.

In the week

Between Monday (29) and Wednesday (01), the stationary cold front should present a slight displacement towards RS and, therefore, the condition for rains and storms still persists in all regions of Santa Catarina, especially in the regions bordering the RS.

Between Thursday (02) and Friday (03), the cold front continues its movement north, if positioned over SC. During this period, the rain gains strength and the risk of storms increases in all regions of the state. There is a condition for intense rain with thunderstorms, in addition to the risk of flooding and occasional flash floods, in addition to roofing and damage to the electrical network.
