Army soldier dies after military training in MS; PM will investigate the case | Mato Grosso do Sul

A 19-year-old young man died after falling ill during a basic training camp for the 10th Mechanized Cavalry Regiment, held this Friday (26), in the city of Bela Vista (MS) – 324 kilometers from Campo Grande. The victim was identified as Vinícius Ibanez Riquelme.

In a statement, the Army reported that Vinícius was participating in a basic instruction camp, when he fell ill, showing symptoms of fever, diarrhea and stable blood pressure. After being hydrated and medicated and without improving, the soldier was taken to Bela Vista hospital, where he was diagnosed with septic shock.

The note also says that soldier Vinícius was transferred to Santa Casa de Campo Grande at around 7pm on Friday, but did not survive and died this Saturday morning at around 7am.

The Army reported that the causes of death are being investigated and the victim’s family members are receiving medical, psychological and spiritual support. A military police investigation will be launched to determine the facts.

The Western Military Command (CMO) regrets the death of the soldier recruited from the 10th Mechanized Cavalry Regiment, located in the city of Bela Vista-MS, and informs that it is providing support to the soldier’s family. The CMO clarifies that the soldier was treated by the Regiment’s health team on Friday (26), taken to the hospital in Bela Vista (MS) and, on the same day, transferred to Santa Casa de Campo Grande. A military police investigation will be launched to determine the facts.
