The news that BYD – the largest manufacturer of clean energy cars in the world, is expected to generate ten thousand direct and indirect jobs in the state, has promoted a race in the search for professional qualification courses for the selection of the Chinese automaker. To assist workers interested in one of these vacancies, the State Government, through the Secretariat of Labor, Employment, Income and Sports (Setre) in partnership with Senai de Camaçari, will make available, in this first stage, 500 vacancies for four free courses , with registrations until next Friday (5).

This is just one of the secretariat’s initiatives, which in 2024, is expected to invest R$28 million in preparing labor for the job market in Bahia. For BYD, courses will be offered for vehicle production operator, production line assistant, industrial machine maintenance mechanic and quality inspector. Unemployed workers, aged 16 and over, with completed secondary education, registered at agencies of the National Employment System – SineBahia, can apply. The workload is 200 to 260 hours.

Setre will invest R$28 million in training and encouraging entrepreneurship in 2024. These are programs such as Qualifica Bahia and Juventude Produtiva that provide opportunities to generate work and income for thousands of women, young people, especially black men and women, people deprived of liberty and people with disabilities. The idea is to keep Bahia in the first position in the generation of formal jobs in the Northeast, as happened in January, according to data from the General Register of Employed and Unemployed Persons (Caged) released by the Ministry of Labor and Employment (MTE).

According to the Secretary of Labor, Employment, Income and Sport, Davidson Magalhães, the diversity of programs and courses available shows the State Government’s commitment to meeting the different needs of citizens, which, in 2023 alone, benefited approximately 22 thousand people.

“Last year, we took qualification courses in the 417 municipalities of Bahia and the State became a leader in the Northeast region in generating formal employment. There were almost 80 thousand new formal formal jobs created. It is truly inspiring to see this effort to offer qualifications and growth opportunities to the population”, declared the head of Setre.
