The 2024 licensing calendar for Detran-MS (State Department of Traffic of Mato Grosso do Sul) is open, and owners of vehicles with license plates ending in 1 and 2 must settle the debt by the end of April. In total, 124.6 thousand vehicles have these license plate endings in the State.

The licensing fee is the same for all types of vehicles, 4.53 UFERMS (State Tax Reference Unit of Mato Grosso do Sul), which in this month of April is R$ 219.34. If paid after the last business day of the month, this amount will be updated to 5.88 UFERMS, which if maintained in the following month, in reais will be R$284.70.

The annual licensing fee can be paid through self-service, on the Meu Detran service portal or through the Detran MS application, where it is possible to issue the guide or copy the barcode for payment. Or the citizen can seek in-person assistance at a Detran-MS agency.

Carrying a CRLV (Vehicle Registration and Licensing Certificate) is mandatory and must be presented to the traffic authority whenever requested, whether the physical document is printed or digital through the CDT (Digital Traffic Card).

It is worth remembering that a driver caught driving on urban roads or highways in an unlicensed vehicle commits a very serious infraction. The art. 230 of the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB) provides for the imposition of a fine of R$ 293.47 and 7 points on the license, in addition to the administrative measure of removing the vehicle from the yard.

As per guidance from the CGE (State Comptroller General), in 2024, Detran-MS began collecting outstanding licensing fees. From now on, this will be a constant practice, and irregular debts will be subject to being sent to the PGE (State Attorney General’s Office) for inclusion in active debt.
