VIDEO: Caruaru pastor goes viral after banning ‘Dorama heart’ sign in churches.
Pastor Ailton Junior, from the Assembly of God Church in Caruaru, Agreste de Pernambuco, went viral after making a statement that left young people in the audience uncomfortable, during the 22nd Teenagers Congress, in Recife.(See video)
The video, which has millions of views on social media, was recorded on the last day (28) and has generated controversy within and outside the Assembly of God community over some religious prohibitions.
“Don’t make the heart of Dorama in the church pulpits to take photos anymore. Do you know what Dorama is? Who here knows what Dorama is? Defense of androgyny! There is no definition of male or female. And everyone making the sign of Dorama because they are ignorant”, he said.
In the video, it is possible to see that many young people were uncomfortable with the religious leader’s message, which had “faith” as its theme. In another part of the video, Pastor Ailton Junior says that “When you watch Dramas and other TV series, about death, ‘vampire’, and so many other misfortunes, you are getting used to the way the devil acts.”
The origin comes from the Japanese “dorama”. As the Japanese cannot pronounce the consonant cluster (when two consonants appear together) of the word “drama”, they add a vowel – in this case, the letter “o”, becoming “dorama”.
ABL published the following definition on social media:
Dorama: masculine noun. Audiovisual work of fiction in series format, produced in East and Southeast Asia, of different genres and themes, generally with a local cast and in the language of the country of origin.
