Rio Grande do Sul is facing a heat wave due to the influence of a large mass of dry and hot air that extends from Argentina to the Rio Grande do Sul territory. High temperatures, which have already exceeded 40ºC in some Argentine provinces, keep the state under alert.
Saturday will be marked by a predominance of sunshine in all regions, with even higher temperatures. Although there is the formation of scattered clouds, the occurrence of extremely isolated and temporary rains in the afternoon cannot be ruled out, especially in some neighborhoods.
According to MetSul, the forecast indicates that the hot air mass will intensify, resulting in a day of strong to intense heat in several regions of Rio Grande do Sul.
Maximum temperatures can reach even higher values, reaching 40ºC in areas such as Quaraí, Uruguaiana, Itaqui and São Borja, and between 35ºC and 37ºC in the valleys and Greater Porto Alegre.
Sunday will remain hot, especially in the West, Center and valleys, with highs above 35ºC. The possibility of localized summer rain increases in the afternoon and evening, although irregularly.
The state is going through a prolonged period of high temperatures, expected to persist until the following week, with many days of intense heat in the afternoon.
The forecast highlights torrid afternoons in some cases.
The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued an alert for the next few days, indicating the influence of the hot air mass in the Southern Region of Brazil, especially in Rio Grande do Sul.
Despite localized storms, the heat will persist, reaching temperatures between 35°C and 40°C.
Next week, even with the arrival of milder air in the eastern part of the state, the heat will continue, with typical summer thunderstorms forming in the late afternoon.
The intensity of the winds will increase, reaching gusts of up to 50 km/h.
