Military Police officer is shot during operation against drug trafficking in Campestre
Two people were arrested and a minor was apprehended during a police operation against drug trafficking this Friday afternoon (2) in Campestre (MG). A suspect and a military police officer were shot during the action.
According to information from the Military Police, when checking reports of drug trafficking at a residence in the Santa Cruz residential neighborhood, the military came across two suspects at the side gate of the house.
Upon realizing the presence of the police, they ran, one of whom fled in a silver-colored vehicle and the other tried to close the gate, but was prevented. When forcing the gate against the soldier, the police officer shot the suspect in the hand.
According to the police report, the officer realized that he was also hit in the left leg and was taken to the hospital. The suspect hid inside the house and police reinforcement was requested.
Upon noticing the arrival of more police officers, the suspect, with a full bag in hand and armed, fled through the back window in the company of a 16-year-old teenager and entered a vacant lot with tall grass.
According to the police, when the soldiers violated the order to stop, they shot the suspect in the left leg. Even though he was injured, he continued to flee, but after discarding the gun and the bag he was carrying, he surrendered to the police.
Shortly afterwards, the 16-year-old teenager who was with the suspect was also located. In the house where they were, the police also entered a 22-year-old woman, who tried to hide a large amount of drugs in the toilet flush tank.
The suspect who was shot was taken to the hospital and after medical clearance was taken to the police station. The injured military police officer was transferred consciously to Santa Casa de Poços de Caldas, where he underwent surgery.
Around R$500 in cash, four cell phones, bags for packaging the drug, 302 rocks of crack, 55 packets of cocaine, a tablet and 36 wads of marijuana were seized during the operation.
The two suspects and the minor were taken along with the material to the police station.
