A million-dollar show by singer Gusttavo Lima promised to rock the city of Campo Alegre de Lourdes, in Bahia, during Carnival, but the Bahian court ordered the event to be canceled with an estimated cost of R$1.3 million.
According to information collected by SBT NEWS, the decision was filed by the Public Ministry of the State of Bahia (MP-BA), on Friday (2) and also determines the prohibition of any transfer to the producer responsible for presenting the country singer.
In the decision, the MP highlighted that the city where the show would take place currently has serious financial and structural problems, including being in a state of emergency due to drought since September last year. Furthermore, the city has the fifth worst index in health, education and sanitation management in the State of Bahia.
Also according to information collected by SBT NEWS, in the decision, judge Vanderley Andrade de Lacerda assessed that the value of the presentation would be greater than the budget of the entire Municipal Department of Culture foreseen in 2023 and 2024.
“I note that the high cost of holding the ‘Gusttavo Lima’ show is disastrous given the financial and budgetary capacity of the Municipality, which is in a declared situation of public calamity, receiving funds for investment in culture almost four times lower than the amount paid the band”, says an excerpt from the decision.
The SBT NEWS report contacted Gusttavo Lima’s advisor for positioning, but did not receive a response until the publication of this text.
