A bus caught fire after hitting a pole on Avenida Senador Levindo Coelho, in the Independência neighborhood, in the Barreiro region, in Belo Horizonte, in the early hours of this Saturday (3). Nobody was injured.
According to the Fire Department, the collective, which runs on line 35 (Barreiro/Centro Station), was heading to the company’s garage when a motorcyclist crossed in front of the vehicle. The driver tried to avoid the motorcycle, but ended up hitting the pole.
With the accident, the structure fell on the front of the bus and was suspended only by the electrical wiring. The transformer fell on top of the vehicle, causing the fire.

The bus was empty, with only the driver, who managed to get out without injuries.
When the military arrived at the scene, the vehicle was already completely on fire.
Civil Police expertise was called. BHTrans agents were also at the scene to signal traffic.
Cemig reported that it is working to repair the damaged pole and normalize energy supply in the region. Around a thousand customers are without power this morning. The service is expected to return to operation by the end of the afternoon.
The Union of Passenger Transport Companies (Setra-BH) regretted what happened and is investigating the case.
