Almost the entire state of Piauí, around 209 municipalities, is on yellow alert for rain for this Friday (2), reported the National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet). The alert continues until Saturday (3) when a new bulletin will be issued.

For municipalities that are on yellow alert, it means that it can rain between 20 and 50 mm/day, with intense winds of 40 to 60 km/h. The risk of electricity cuts, falling tree branches, flooding and electrical discharges is low.

Among the municipalities that will be affected are: Agricolândia, Amarante, Baixa Grande do Ribeiro, Barras, Bom Jesus, Brasileira, Cabeceiras do Piauí, Cajueiro da Praia, Campo Maior, Capitão de Campos, Cocal de Telha, Domingos Mourão, Esperantina, Floriano, Francisco Ayres, Luís Correia, Luzilândia, Milton Brandão, Monsenhor Gil, Nazária, Pedro II, Pio IX, Picos, Piracuruca, Piripiri, São José do Peixe, São Francisco do Piauí and Teresina.

“For February 2024, the forecast of above-average rain will contribute to maintaining moisture in the soil and the development of first-crop crops. The same scenario is predicted for Central Brazil”, informed the institute.
