The end of 2023 brought with it data on consumer demand for credit in the state of Roraima and the other federative units in the North of the country, according to the Consumer Demand for Credit Indicator from Serasa Experian.
Roraima, in particular, experienced a significant drop, showing a 10.2% drop in the search for financial resources. This decline aligns with a trend observed in all states in the North region, where the smallest decline was recorded in Rondônia, with a decrease of 5.1%, while Amapá led with the biggest drop, reaching a significant 17.5%.

National data
When analyzing the national panorama, the accumulated result for 2023 reveals a 9.1% drop in the search for credit, representing the lowest percentage ever recorded since the beginning of the historical series. This indicator reflects the challenging economic conditions faced by consumers across the country.
Analysis by monthly personal income range reveals that Brazilians who receive up to R$500 were the most impacted, showing a significant drop of 11.4%. On the other hand, those with a monthly income of more than R$10,000 recorded the smallest decline, with just 7.1%.

Regions of the country
The regional scope of this downward trend is also notable. All regions of Brazil recorded a decrease in the search for financial resources throughout 2023. The Federal District stands out negatively, with a retraction of 17.7%, followed by Amapá, which also had a significant drop of 17.5% , and Rio de Janeiro, with a decrease of 17.0%. In contrast, Santa Catarina was the only region to fall below a 3% decline, indicating relative resistance in the economic scenario.
