Two men are suspected of extracting sand in the metropolitan region of Salvador

Two men were arrested in the act, this Friday (2), suspected of illegally extracting sand in the district of Jauá, in the city of Camaçari, in the Metropolitan Region of Salvador.

Military police officers from the Environmental Protection Police Company (Coppa) were monitoring the region when they received information that illegal sand extraction was taking place in an area of ​​dunes.

When they arrived at the scene, they found the suspects. A bucket truck and shovels were seized from them.

The duo and the seized vehicle were taken to the Federal Police, where the incident was registered. There are no details where the suspects were taken.

The extraction of mineral resources without due authorization constitutes the crime of usurpation of union property and extraction of mineral resources without legal permission. The penalty is imprisonment for one to five years and a fine.
