Amazonas is the 9th state with the highest increase in dengue cases in 2024.

This is what a survey carried out by Globo shows, based on data from the Ministry of Health.

Consultation made by POLITICAL STATE shows that in January 2023 Amazonas recorded 1,051 cases of the disease.

In January 2024, the number of cases of the disease jumped to 3,856, an increase of 267%.

The numbers consider the latest update from the ministry’s arbovirus monitoring panel, which dates back to January 31st.

According to the survey carried out by Globo, the 10 states with the highest increase in dengue fever in 2024 are Rio Grande do Sul, Santa Catarina, Paraná, Rio de Janeiro, Distrito Federal, Amapá, Roraima, Minas Gerais, Amazonas and Acre.

On Thursday (1st), the Ministry of Health installed an Emergency Operations Center – COE Dengue.

The COE’s mission is to expand and speed up the organization of surveillance strategies in response to the increase in dengue cases in Brazil.

Amazonas is one of the states monitored by the COE, informed the federal government.

The announcement was made by Minister Nísia Trindade during the opening of the Tripartite Intermanagers Commission (CIT), in Brasília (DF).

In 2024, to date, Brazil has recorded 243,721 probable cases of dengue, with 52,069 cases in epidemiological week 1 (31/12 to 6/1), 63,995 in week 2 (7 to 13/1), 79,872 probable cases of dengue in week 3 (14 to 20/1) and 47,785 cases in epidemiological week 4 (21 to 27/4).
