Representative Renato de Castro (UB) was elected in 2022 with 35,842 votes and is currently in his second term as state deputy. Born in the municipality of Goianésia, he debuted in the Goiás Parliament in the 18th Legislature and returned in the 20th Legislature with several projects presented to guarantee the exercise of citizenship and full rights to the population of the State of Goiás.
One of the flags raised by the parliamentarian is the defense of the population in vulnerable situations. Project nº 1712/23 establishes, for example, the obligation of the public health network to provide prescription glasses to low-income citizens of Goiás who have been diagnosed with a disability or special visual condition. Another example, in the same sense, is matter nº 1712/23, which also determines the obligation to offer hearing aids free of charge to people diagnosed with hearing impairment and who are unable to bear the costs of purchasing the device.
In both cases, Renato de Castro observed the constitutional requirement for the State to act in health matters and highlighted that the provision of devices also brings benefits in other areas, such as improving the school performance of children and adolescents, social life and job market.
In favor of culture, the deputy presented application nº 9483/23, which requested the creation of the Military Police music band in the municipality of Goianésia and considered that this is fundamental to enrich the cultural quality of local events. Furthermore, the presence of the band could strengthen ties between the corporation and the community. Other projects were also filed, such as nº 8978/23, whose objective is to declare the Goiana Taekwondo Federation (FGTKD), headquartered in the municipality of Goianésia, as a Public Utility Entity. In the decision, the parliamentarian justified that the association’s purpose is to promote, guide and coordinate the teaching of martial art, observing ethical conduct and focused on self-defense.
