A 31-year-old man was arrested this Thursday (1st) on suspicion of raping a 21-year-old girl in Novo Horizonte do Sul – a city 317 kilometers from Campo Grande. According to the police, he broke into the victim’s house and, under threat of a gun, abused her.
The crime took place on Saturday, January 27th.
According to investigations, the victim did not know the suspect. Armed with a revolver, he broke into her house and raped her. In a joint action between the Civil Police and the Military Police, the man was identified; a fugitive from justice who had broken his electronic ankle monitor and had only recently been in the city.
A request was then made for the suspect’s preventive detention, which was accepted by the courts.
With the court order in hand, the police began searching for the man. Throughout Thursday, police officers searched for the suspect in Naviraí, Itaquiraí and Eldorado. In the evening, he was captured in Iguatemi – a city 394 kilometers from the capital.
In testimony, he stated that he had sexual relations with the victim, but with her consent. Despite this, she confirmed that she was armed, but said that she lost it during the escape.
