This Friday (02), work restarted on the SC-370 highway, which connects the municipalities of Urubici and Rio Rufino, in Serra Catarinense. The Secretary of Infrastructure, Jerry Comper, is present on the highway to give interviews about the resumption of paving work, which began in early February.
The work order for paving the highway was signed in August 2022. This improvement on SC-370 is crucial for connecting tourist municipalities and is essential for the flow of local agricultural production. This demand, which dates back 40 years, is very important for the population.
However, in November last year, the Government of the State of Santa Catarina halted work on SC-370, between Rio Rufino and Urubici, in Serra Catarinense. At the time, the regional infrastructure coordinator for Serra Catarinense, José Ricardo, explained that the strike was not due to a lack of will on the part of the State government or lack of financial resources. He mentioned that adjustments were needed in environmental licenses with Celesc and Casan, the hiring of an archaeologist, and the resolution of expropriation issues.
The machinery returned to pave the 29 km of dirt road between the cities this Friday (02), within the deadline established by the State Government for the resumption of works. Speaking to Rádio Gralha, from Urubici, secretary Jerry Comper stated that the resumption reinforces a commitment from Governor Jorginho Mello.
“We are restarting this work that, in addition to safety, will bring more quality to the citizens who will travel. Not only for the residents who live in this region, but also for tourists who come from abroad to boost tourism”, said Jerry.
