The Federal Highway Police (PRF) retained, last Thursday (1st), more than 120 tons of corn without an invoice, during inspections on BR-423, in the municipalities of Garanhuns and Paranatama, Agreste de Pernambuco.
During an inspection in Garanhuns, the driver of a truck claimed to be transporting 48 tons of corn grains from Pinhão, in Sergipe, to the municipality of Angelim, in Pernambuco, then presenting his documentation. The team, after consulting the Finance Department (Sefaz), identified the reuse of tax documents, which constitutes an irregularity.
In Paranatama, a tractor truck was approached by police officers. The driver reported that he was traveling from Nossa Senhora da Glória to Correntes, with a total load of 73 tons of corn, and that he did not have any documents proving its origin.
Two other trucks carrying overweight corn were also sent to the yard. In total, 107 tons of merchandise weighing more than permitted during the inspection were recorded.
The vehicles were sent to the yard to transship the excess merchandise. Sefaz was contacted to provide tax regularization of the goods.
