The State government is starting to prepare the bridge construction project on the North Coast. The proposal, presented by vice-governor Marilisa Boehm, provides for a connection between Balneário Barra do Sul and São Francisco do Sul, in the town of Ervino. This week, the project was authorized. The structure is planned to cross the Linguado channel. Previous attempts by the city councils of the two cities to contract ferry services did not go ahead.

The vice-governor defends the construction of the bridge as a way of encouraging tourism, in addition to facilitating the movement of communities in the two cities. The new connection also helps to relieve BR-280. The bridge is part of the Costa do Encanto region, a state government project from the 2000s. One of the roads mapped for paving was the connection between Ervino and Praia Grande, in São Francisco do Sul.

The planned bridge should be around 200 meters long, although only the project will indicate the length. After preparing the study, it will be time to define the source of resources, before the environmental licensing stage. There is no estimate of when work on the bridge will begin.
