A 33-year-old man was stabbed by his own father in the city of Upanema, a municipality 55km from Mossoró. The case happened on Thursday afternoon (1st), around 3:30 pm. The Military Police were called by the medical team at Upanema hospital.
At the hospital, the victim reported that his own father had stabbed him in the chest and said where his residence was. During the investigation, the police went to the property where the crime allegedly took place, but the person responsible for the stabbing was not there.
During the search, the 68-year-old man was located on a road close to the residence. With him, the military police found the knife used in the crime. He was taken to the Plantão de Mossoró police station.
In testimony, the victim’s father confessed to having stabbed the man. The elderly man also said that he was at home when his son arrived showing signs of drunkenness. At this point, confusion broke out. According to the perpetrator, the son was disoriented and he picked up the knife without intending to hurt the man.
After giving a statement, the elderly man was released. His son remains hospitalized at the Tarcísio Maia Regional Hospital, in Mossoró.
