A man sentenced to 17 years and 6 months in prison for raping two vulnerable twin sisters in 2005 was arrested this Friday (2), in the Zumbi dos Palmares neighborhood, East Zone of Manaus.

At the time of the incident, the victims ran away from home, as they could no longer stand being abused by their then stepfather. After that, they went to their father’s house and reported that they had been sexually abused for around two years.

“They had already told their mother, but she didn’t believe it and even physically attacked one of her daughters. At the time, the mother said that she went out to work, spent the day outside and the perpetrator was the one who took care of her daughters, and it was precisely on those occasions that he committed the abuse,” said delegate Joyce Coelho.

After learning of the crime, the victims’ father immediately reported the individual and a Police Inquiry (IP) was opened. Despite all the waiting, the sentence became final and the author was convicted of the crime.
