Three women were arrested, this Friday (2), on suspicion of theft against an elderly woman in the Barra neighborhood, in Salvador. According to the Civil Police, the victim was carrying shopping and the trio offered to take the bags. They would have taken the opportunity to steal the lady’s wallet with money.
The case took place on Rua Marquês de Caravelas, close to one of the main carnival circuits in Salvador. In a statement, the police reported that the suspects have dozens of convictions for the crime of theft.

In addition to cases in Barra, crimes were recorded in the neighborhoods of Graça, Pituba, and the center of Salvador. The investigations also point to criminal acts by the suspects in Camaçari, in the Metropolitan Region of Salvador.
“They appeared committing thefts in surveillance camera footage from several commercial establishments and churches. The three were already targets of several investigations”, said delegate Mariana Ouiais, in a note.
The women were charged with aggravated robbery and will be detained by the courts. They are awaiting a custody hearing and the elderly woman’s belongings and money have been returned.
