A military police officer from Rondas Ostensivas Tobias de Aguiar (Rota) was shot in the face by criminals this Friday (2), in Santos, on the coast of São Paulo. According to the state Public Security Secretariat (SSP-SP), the agent was rescued and taken to a hospital in the city, and a new Operation Shield was launched in the region.
The case happened during routine patrolling on Avenida Brigadeiro Faria Lima, in the Rádio Clube neighborhood. According to SSP-SP, the agent was rescued to Santa Casa de Santos (SP). Information about his condition, however, has not yet been officially released.
Also according to the SSP-SP, a new Operation Shield was launched in the region with the aim of identifying and arresting the suspects. The number of criminals involved in the attack on the agent was also not disclosed.

Operation Shield after death of Rota PM
Operation Shield was launched in the region in July 2023, after the death of Rota’s PM, Patrick Bastos Reis. On that occasion, the agent was shot while patrolling in Guarujá (SP).
