The president of the PT spoke at Marta Suplicy’s event of affiliation with the party and said that the party has no responsibility for polarization
The national president of the PT, deputy Gleisi Hoffmann (PR), stated this Friday (2.Feb.2024) that there is no “middle path” for the city of São Paulo and not for Brazil. The statement was made during Marta Suplicy’s affiliation event with the Workers’ Party, in São Paulo.
“There is no middle path neither in São Paulo nor in Brazil. This is the way. To face and win forward to create a progressive and popular project”he stated.
The deputy exempted the PT from responsibility for the country’s polarization, criticized the “extreme right” and stated that if the party does not face this group, it will win.
Watch the act:
“They say that we have polarized society and they blame the PT for that. We have no governance over this polarization. It is given because the extreme right has organized itself, become popular and is competing for a project with us. We don’t want others to take the lead and face this process. Because if we don’t face them, they will win.”
Gleisi’s speech contrasted with that of the Psol candidate for mayor of São Paulo, Guilherme Boulos. He spoke of unity and a broad democratic front to win the municipal elections. Marta’s move to the PT is precisely so that she can join the psolista’s ticket as a candidate for vice-mayor.
