The airport of Petrolina (PNZ), in the Sertão of Pernambuco, estimates that more than 11 thousand passengers will cross the terminal gates between the 8th and 14th of February, a period that corresponds to Carnival 2024. The expectation of movement is almost double that of last year’s carnival, which had more than 6 thousand travelers at the terminal in the hinterland of Pernambuco, an increase of 84%.
For this year, 96 operations are planned between landings and takeoffs. The intense movement begins on Thursday, February 8th, with more than 1,800 people embarking and disembarking.
“We are already prepared to receive this large flow on every day that corresponds to the carnival festivities. All sectors were reinforced to guarantee the best services and a safe and smooth passage through the airport”, points out Jamerson Vasconcelos, Manager of Petrolina Airport.
On these long holidays, where there is an increase in traffic, the airport recommends that passengers pay attention to boarding times. To check in luggage, it is recommended that you arrive 2 hours in advance. For trips with hand luggage, the ideal is just 1h30 before boarding. If possible, it is also recommended that check-in be done online. This way, the days of revelry can begin without any hassle.
Petrolina Airport has also started its terminal expansion project with works and improvements. With the increase in demand during the long weekend, the site’s management asks for everyone’s understanding, as the interventions are aimed at the comfort and safety of passengers.
