Amazon makes agreement to offer Mandarin courses

Manaus/AM – A cooperation agreement between the State, Universidade Estadual Paulista (Unesp), Federal University of Amazonas (Ufam), Instituto Ibrachina and the Legislative Assembly of the State of Amazonas (Aleam), was signed this Friday (2) to promote the Chinese language and culture with regular in-person Mandarin courses and cultural activities.

“Brazil and China are the largest trading partners and the countries have to interact more and more. The Manaus Free Trade Zone predominantly buys its components from China and Brazilian agribusiness exports go to China, including via the Amazon and Amazon rivers. So, intensifying this partnership is of utmost relevance and that is what we did here”, highlighted the head of the State Secretariat for Economic Development, Science and Technology and Innovation (Sedecti), Serafim Corrêa.

The government of Amazonas, through Sedecti, also formalized an agreement to join the Amazonas International Relations Center (Nuriam), coordinated by state deputy João Luiz (Republicans), which aims to boost paradiplomacy in our state, strengthen international competitiveness , promote integration with public entities in all spheres, in addition to integrating private and academic entities. According to Serafim, the courses that will be offered come through work at the center.

The event, which took place in Aleam’s Belarmino Lins auditorium, also had the signature of the Secretary of the Environment (Sema), Eduardo Taveira, the president of the State Tourism Company of Amazonas (Amazonastur), Ian Ribeiro, and the secretary of Education and School Sports (Seduc), Arlete Mendonça.
