Important routes of Tijucatraditional neighborhood in North Zone of Rio de Janeiro, are receiving new asphalt. The service, carried out by Municipal Conservation Secretariat (Seconserva) in partnership with the Greater Tijuca Subprefecturebegan in the second half of January and is expected to last around a month – this period, however, may vary depending on weather conditions.
In total, more than 2,200 tons of asphalt mix will be applied. The material is produced at the Caju Plant, operated by the Seconserva Industrial Production Coordination. The first road included in the pavement recovery is Rua Andrade Neves. To minimize impacts on traffic, teams work from Monday to Friday, from 10pm to 5am.
The Secretary of Conservation, Marco Aurelio Regalo de Oliveirahighlights the quality of the asphalt being applied.
“The Caju industrial park is one of the most modern in South America and has a laboratory that allows quality control not only of the asphalt mixture produced, but also of the inputs used in this process”explains Marco Aurelio.
The sub-mayor of Grande Tijuca, Felipe Quintansin turn, emphasizes the importance of the service, which benefits both residents and those who need to travel around the region.
”This stretch of Grande Tijuca is a shortcut frequently used by drivers coming from Alto Tijuca, Muda and Usina towards the Center and the South Zone, avoiding the heaviest traffic on Rua Conde de Bonfim. It is extremely important work. We are increasingly improving the lives of the population”says Felipe.
