Starting this Thursday (1st), beneficiaries of the Social Energy: Zero Light Account program, a State Government program that pays the electricity bill, must re-register on the website www.sead.ms.gov.br. The re-registration process is entirely digital and guarantees benefits for those who need it.
With the action, Sead (Secretariat of State for Social Assistance and Human Rights), which manages the program, intends to ensure that all beneficiaries who need the program continue to be covered, as explained by the holder of the department, Patrícia Cozzolino.
“This re-registration will allow socially vulnerable people, who rely on Social Energy every month, to continue with their benefit. In the structure of social programs, such as Mais Social and Cuidar de Quem Cuida, the electricity bill paid by the State Government undoubtedly represents an important part of social protection. In practice, an amount that would be allocated to the electricity bill can be directed by the family to the purchase of school supplies, medicine at the pharmacy or even a purchase at the market”, details the secretary.
On average, more than 154 thousand families benefit from the program. Among other requests, upon re-registration, the beneficiary must digitally send the electricity bill, updated photo and personal documents. Each beneficiary’s monthly invoice will also contain a notice alerting them to the need for re-registration.
By means of a law, published in December 2023, the State Government guarantees the Social Energy: Zero Light Account program until 2026, also covering families that have among their members, residents of the consumer unit, with consumption of up to 530 KW/ h, person with a pathology whose medical treatment requires the continued use of devices, equipment or instruments that, for their operation, require the consumption of electrical energy (electronic dependent).
The deadline for re-registration is May 10, 2024.
