Salvador gains new neighborhood located between Pituba and Caminho das Árvores
Salvador gained a new neighborhood: Loteamento Aquarius, previously part of Pituba, now another address. The decree was signed by the city’s mayor, Bruno Reis (União Brasil).
“We always had this demand due to the size of the Pituba neighborhood, which is huge. (…) And it was always difficult to have this access to public authorities”, argued retired Oscar José Correia, a resident of the area.
Existing for more than 15 years, the Aquarius Subdivision has an area of around 330,000 m² and is considered a middle-class region.
As reported by TV Bahia, there are more than 15 thousand residents in the town, which has 30 residential condominiums and five schools.
Now with neighborhood status — the 171st in the municipality — the president of the residents’ association, Theodomiro Baptista Neto, celebrates the possibility of being able to request more policing and highlights an old demand of the community.
“I hope the neighborhood has Christmas lights at the end of the year.”
With the change, the subdivision joins six other new neighborhoods in Salvador. Viewpoints of Periperi, Dois de Julho Chame Chame, Colinas de Periperi, Horto Florestal, Ilha Amarela and Vista Alegre were recognized as such only in 2020, also by popular demand.
