With the presence of State Deputy Júlio Garcia (PSD), the Mayor of Florianópolis, João Cobalchini, and Federal Deputy Carlos Chiodini, State President of the MDB, the party took the lead and announced support for Mayor Topázio Neto (PSD) to the October elections, in the Capital. In addition to Júlio and Chiodini, Federal Deputy Valdir Cobalchini, Fulvio Rosar Neto, President of the municipal MDB, Wilson Rabelo, President of the MDB of Itajaí, Rafael Hanne, Secretary of Infrastructure of Florianópolis, and Cel Márcio Alves were present during the announcement. As the articulator of this alliance, João Cobalchini, who will soon leave União Brasil to join the party, is confident with the partnership, and is already seeking to lift the party in the State, since in the 2020 elections, when I support Angela Amin (PP), the party failed to elect any councilor.

Another party strategy for the 2024 elections was to change the electoral domicile of federal deputy Carlos Chiodini (MDB), to the city with the largest economy in the state, Itajaí, where he will run for mayor. Manda Brasa has a goal of winning 100 city halls in the next election. In Lages, for example, the MDB will also have its own candidacy.

And after the public announcement of the support of Valdir Chiodini’s party for the re-election of the mayor of Florianópolis, the Republicans, the party of former governor Carlos Moisés da Silva, also dropped the hammer and will support Topázio. With this “elite escort”, Topázio already enters the dispute with some advantage.

Environmental incentive

The State Environment and Green Economy Secretariat is looking for ways to regularize the State’s conservation units and obtain resources to start paying for environmental services. One of the ideas analyzed by Secretary Ricardo Guidi’s team, holder of the portfolio, is the sale of carbon credits from state units and using the resources specifically for these purposes. Estimates show that the 10 state conservation units can collectively generate R$27 million per year. The initiative is being applied in Private Natural Heritage Reserves (RPPN), which are conservation units managed by private individuals.

Recently, Ricardo Guidi was with the Santa Catarina bench, closely checking the work at the Jorge Lacerda Thermoelectric Complex, in Capivari de Baixo.

One of them, 319 kilometers long between the cities of Chapecó and Correia Pinto, and the other, 62 kilometers long, between Navegantes and Araquari. The State’s investment is around R$32 million.
