There is only one week left to pay the 2024 IPVA with a 15% discount: the deadline for paying the tax in advance in cash with this special discount expires next Wednesday, February 7th. The discount is calculated automatically at the time of payment, which can be made through the channels of partner institutions of the State Finance Secretariat (Sefaz-Ba): Banco do Brasil, Bradesco or Bancoob.
Another possibility is to pay via pix, also in a single installment, the Integrated DAE (State Collection Document), which includes IPVA, Licensing and possible fines. This new procedure, which can be done through the ba.gov.br portal, was implemented in 2023 in a partnership between Sefaz-BA, Detran and the State Administration Secretariat (Saeb).
If you cannot pay by February 7th, the taxpayer also has the option of paying the tax with an 8% discount. To do this, you must pay in cash on the due date of the first installment of the installment plan planned for your vehicle, set in accordance with the annual calendar, according to the final number on the license plate.
The State of Bahia maintained, on the other hand, the possibility of paying in five installments, which is done according to the annual calendar that takes into account the vehicle’s final license plate number. If the option is to pay the IPVA in installments, the taxpayer must remember that debts relating to the licensing fee and any traffic fines must be paid by the final payment deadline in a single installment or the fifth installment of the IPVA.
The tax for the year 2024 can only be paid in installments if the amount of the debt is equal to or greater than R$120.00. Sefaz-Ba reminds you that the installment option for debts prior to 2024 will only be accepted if this payment occurs together with the payment for the 2024 financial year.
Reduction in IPVA
IPVA was on average 2.61% lower in 2024 in Bahia. The fall is driven by automobiles, which saw an average reduction in tax of 4.25%, and by utilities, whose reduction was 5.22%. The average drop in the value of the tax, according to Sefaz-Ba, reflects the moment of stabilization of the Brazilian economy.
This new moment is reflected in the study carried out by the Economic Research Foundation – Fipe, responsible for the calculations to create the Table of Sales Values for vehicles in circulation in the state, which takes into account the prices practiced in October 2023. The table can be seen on the website www.sefaz.ba.gov.br, Electronic Inspection channel => IPVA => Motor Vehicle Calculation Base.
According to the table, the drop in IPVA will be smaller for motorcycles, which will have the tax reduced by 0.46%, and buses and minibuses, which will pay 0.10% less. Only trucks will have an average increase of 1.69% in IPVA, also as a reflection of the current market scenario for these vehicles.
