One day after reaching his 100th medal at the Parapan-American Games in Santiago and continue to comfortably lead the medal table, Brazil enters the fourth day of competitions with the expectation of even more achievements in a sport in which the country is traditionally very strong: athletics, with the events track, jump and field. Furthermore, the Brazilian delegation continues to seek medals in swimming, weightlifting, archery and sports shooting.
On the first day of the competition, there will be the debuts of Jerusa dos Santos from Acre, Lorena Spoladore from Paraná and Thalita da Silva from Paraná, Thalita da Silva in the blind speed race, class T11. Current world champion in the event, Jerusa, one of the fastest athletes in the world, is one of the biggest medal expectations. Considered one of Brazil’s greatest talents, José Alexandre, silver and bronze medalist at the Paris 2023 World Cup, debuts in the T47 class.
In the shot put, the highlight is the trio made up of Thiago Paulino, Marco Aurélio Borges, both from São Paulo, in the F57 class, and Claudiney dos Santos, from Minas Gerais, three-time Paralympic and world champion in the F56 class. Tiago Paulino and Marco Aurélio make their debuts at the Games.
Another standout in athletics is Yeltsin Jacques, from Mato Grosso do Sul, in the T11 class. He won the gold medal in the 1,500m and the bronze in the 5,000m at this year’s World Championships.
Brazil will also have another big news in swimming: the debut of Carol Santiago from Pernambuco, one of the most successful Brazilian athletes in the current Brazilian delegation. She debuts at Parapan in the 100m breaststroke in class S12 (visual impairment).
