The Legislative Assembly, through the Consumer Protection, Human Rights and Citizenship Commission of the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Procon, joined the State Procon to carry out joint actions in Rio Grande do Norte. The first phase takes place during this Black Friday period, but will extend to other dates of great commercial appeal, such as Christmas shopping. The launch of the educational campaign “Responsible consumption: good for you; good for commerce” will take place this Wednesday, at 8 am, at Praça Gentil Ferreira, in Alecrim, lasting until 1 pm, with a mobile unit and technicians providing assistance, answering questions and leafleting information booklets.
“We thought of this action with the aim of educating consumers and retailers. We are thinking about this awareness, clarification and education campaign for everyone. We will meet the consumer and visit the commerce, without punitive nature”, explained the president of the Consumer Protection Commission, state deputy Ubaldo Fernandes (PSDB). This collegiate is composed of deputies Divaneide Basílio (vice-president) and Ivanilson Oliveira (member). The initiative is highlighted by the deputy inspection coordinator of the State Procon, Leda Cortez. “This campaign is very important as it brings, at this time of increased purchases, information that will enrich consumers, who will be aware of their rights.”

This promotional action is carried out by retailers with the aim of encouraging consumption and sales of goods and was created in the United States. The initial idea was for it to always be held on the 4th Friday of November, but the campaign spread across the world and is no different in Brazil. Therefore, commerce adopts other dates or the entire month. In the action, advertisements for great promotions are broadcast and, thus, certain products are sold at tempting prices. It happens both in physical stores and online, whose presence has grown significantly and where the largest number of complaints tends to be concentrated.
