The evangelical bishop known as Zadoque and the gospel minister Gideão Duarte, 33, arrested for participating in the death of gospel singer Sara Mariano, are being investigated on suspicion of setting the body on fire and trying to hide evidence of the crime.
“According to the investigations, the supposed religious leader and the app driver are suspected of participating in the logistics and execution, as well as in the act of setting the body on fire and in the attempt to omit evidence”, says delegate Euvaldo Costa, head of the 25th DT ( Dias D’Ávila), who investigates the crime.
Also according to police chief Euvaldo Costa, Sara’s ex-husband, Ederlan Mariano, still figures as the mastermind of the crime. “Investigations indicate that the victim’s ex-husband gave money to the perpetrators and artistic promotions to the alleged religious leader. The investigations continue to identify the conduct of those involved and identify the possibility of further participation,” he said.
Zadoque and Gideão were arrested on Tuesday night (14) and Wednesday morning (15), on the Island of Itaparica and in Camaçari, Metropolitan Region of Salvador (RMS).
According to the police, the duo was identified after several investigative steps, such as collecting statements from witnesses, analyzing images from video surveillance cameras from the Public Security Secretariat (SSP-BA) and private cameras, which helped in the investigations. Expert reports are awaited to complement the investigation of the case.
