The Ministry of Human Rights confirmed that the department’s collegiate paid for one of the trips of Luciane Barbosa Farias, known as the “Amazonian drug lady” and wife of a leader of the Comando Vermelho (CV) in Amazonas, to Brasília.
The cost of the route by the federal government was announced by Luciene during a press conference. The ministry claimed that the payment for the trip occurred after the drug trafficker was appointed as a representative of Amazonas for the Meeting of Committees and Mechanisms for the Prevention and Combat of Torture (CNPCT), held in Brasília.
“All guests had their tickets and daily allowances covered”, informed the Ministry of Human Rights, “with their own budget reserved for the CNPCT and whose members were exclusively appointed by the state committees”.
“It is important to highlight that the Committees for the Prevention and Combat of Torture have budgetary and administrative autonomy, and the cost of tickets and daily allowances was carried out with resources from a budget line allocated by the Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship to the Committee, which observed the indications of the committees states to participate in the meeting”, completed the note released by the ministry.
The Committee to Prevent and Combat Torture took place on November 6th and 7th at the Ministry of Human Rights. The meeting was attended by 70 people nominated by state committees. The event aimed to discuss human rights violations within Brazilian prisons.
Also in the federal capital, Luciene met with two secretaries from the Ministry of Justice. The meetings were not disclosed in the department’s public agendas.
Luciane Barbosa Farias is the wife of Clemilson dos Santos Farias, “Uncle Scrooge”. On social media, she presents herself as a defender of the fight for the rights of prisoners in the Amazon prison system.
