The 2-year-old dog Átila was found on Tuesday night (14) after missing for almost a week. The pet disappeared in Botafogo, in the South Zone of Rio, on Wednesday (8).

The animal’s godfather, Luiz Lopes, told the DAY that he was found about a kilometer from his residence, with some injuries.

”He lives with his owner there on the Tabajaras hillside. As he is smart, he is used to leaving home and coming back. This time he went too far and ended up being found by a woodsman in a forest near Rua Álvaro Ramos,” he said.

”He was found very weak because he was lost in the woods, so he burned his paws. Átila also created a very large wound on his tail and anus, which generated larvae,” he detailed.

Luiz expected that he had been collected by someone who didn’t know how to get to his owners, so he hoped that Átila was in healthier conditions. However, the owner made a point of saying that the animal is already being treated.

”He has already been treated and medicated by a professional and is at home recovering. He is eating and with time he will get better. What matters is that he is with us,” he reassured.
