Man arrested on suspicion of abusing baby in Natal hospital released by court | large northern river

The man who was arrested last Friday (10) at the Onofre Lopes University Hospital (Huol), suspected of abusing a 10-month-old baby, was released from prison this Wednesday morning (15)after having a release permit issued by the Rio Grande do Norte Court.

The material was collected by the health unit team, who contacted the Military Police and the Civil Police.

After the results of the examination, the suspect had a release permit issued by judge Jarbas Bezerra, from the 15th Criminal Court in the early evening of this Tuesday (14). According to the man’s lawyer, who is a security guard and is 55 years old, he has always denied the accusation of abuse.

The guard was detained at the Parnamirim State Penitentiary (PEP), in Grande Natal.

According to the alleged victim’s mother, her son has a rare syndrome that affects the liver, pancreas and kidneys, and is admitted to HUOL after having a catheter placed in his neck to begin hemodialysis.

Mother and son shared the room with another family, which also had a 10-month-old baby hospitalized. The woman would have left the room to drink water and, upon returning, she would have seen the suspect, the father of this other baby, acting strangely.

“My roommate went home and left her husband with her son. My baby was sleeping and I went out to get some water. It was a matter of 3 to 5 minutes, very fast. When I arrived, I noticed that the man was adjusting the pants and shirt. I ran, turned on the light and went to look at my baby. I looked at his private parts, but I didn’t see anything unusual. But when I looked at the corner of his little mouth, [havia] the strange liquid”, said the mother.

Upon seeing the situation, she called the nursing team, who acted to investigate what could have happened.

“When I showed it to the nursing technician, she called other nurses, who collected [o líquido] and took it to a hospital laboratory for analysis. When I returned to the room, I saw the man very tense and quickly left with my baby”, recalled the mother, who shortly after that moment, was taken, along with her baby, to another accommodation.

The case is investigated by the 2nd Duty Police Station in the North Zone of Natal. According to the Civil Police, the investigation is ongoing in secrecy.
