Documents obtained by the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) into Anti-Democratic Acts, in progress at the Legislative Chamber of the Federal District (CLDF), show the financing of a farmer from Mato Grosso to the indigenous José Acácio Serere Xavante, known as chief Serere.

Bank transactions showed the receipt of R$17 thousand, on December 5, 2022.

The amounts were sent by rural producer Maurides Parreira Pimenta, known as Didi Pimenta, from Campinápolis (MT), to chief Serere. Exactly one week after the transfer, the indigenous man, who had been carrying out several mobilizations in Brasília against the results of the polls, instigating a coup d’état, ended up arrested and sparked a rebellion by Bolsonarists.

On December 12, 2022, after Serere’s arrest, supporters of Jair Bolsonaro (PL) tried to invade the Federal Police headquarters in search of the indigenous man, clashed with DF security forces, vandalized buildings, set fire to vehicles and attacked a police station.

The CPI was trying to determine the motivations of indigenous movements against the democratic result of that year’s elections.

In breaking the chief’s banking secrecy, the amount of R$ 17 thousand confirms Didi Pimenta as a financier. A video of the farmer taking over the financing had already surfaced. The rural producer even filmed himself asking for more money, saying he had sent eight buses with indigenous people to Brasília.

At the CPI, in August, the indigenous man denied that he knew the farmer. The chief was confronted with Didi Pimenta’s video and called a liar by the president of the Commission, Chico Vigilante (PT).

Serere’s name must appear among the CLDF’s indictment requests. The final report is expected to be presented in November.

The indigenous Xavante José Acácio Serere was arrested between December 12th of last year, by order of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), and September 9th of this year.

The release of the Bolsonaro activist, who was detained in Brasília, was authorized by minister Alexandre de Moraes, under the condition of the use of an electronic ankle bracelet.
