Considered as the second largest dairy basin in the extreme north of the State, the municipality of Augustinópolis, located 512 km from Palmas, will be the headquarters of the Rota do Queijo. The event, held by Sebrae and which will be officially launched on the 22nd of this month, aims to promote tourism in several locations in the Bico do Papagaio region. The itinerary will be carried out through Famtour, a reconnaissance trip to promote and launch this new tourist destination.

The initiative also aims to develop tourism through partnerships and training of entrepreneurs and rural producers to produce, present and sell the product in Tocantins and other states.

The route covers different cheese options produced by rural producers in the far north of the state. In the initial layout, it includes three cheese factories, three rural properties and 15 tourist trade companies in different locations. From this perspective, tourists can seek information about cheese processing, taste different flavors and experience moments of leisure on rural properties. The initiative is a dynamic action and new cheese factories can be integrated into the route at any time.

Sebrae manager, Wolney Nóbrega, highlights that promoting rural tourism in Bico do Papagaio and generating income for small producers is one of the institution’s focuses. According to him, the interaction between producers, tourists and the tourist trade as a whole, enables the development of new businesses for the region. “Cheese, in addition to being a product with a high nutritional content, is a cultural heritage that carries ancestral knowledge, which connects land, production and the skilled hands of its producers”, he emphasizes.

The manager also remembers that the work is being developed to promote tourism, in accordance with the local vocation of the region. He points out that the work of Sebrae technicians and consultants focuses on projects to improve productivity on rural properties through innovation and technology for the sale of products.

“Through Sebrae TEC Agro we have been bringing knowledge to rural entrepreneurs. And the interesting thing is that we are integrating tourism with agriculture. Even because our dairy basin is very strong and we saw in these products the potential to undertake and take this entire production chain to consumers, which also generates self-esteem for these producers and sees new opportunities for what they produce”, he bets.
